Nkumba, Our Saviour Banyabo Secure NBL Promotion

Nkumba Lady Marines and Our Saviour Banyabo have earned their places in the National Basketball League (NBL) Women’s Division after reaching the finals of the FUBA Division One Playoffs.

While Nkumba bounce back to the top flight just a season after relegation, Our Saviour Banyabo are set to make a historic debut.

Nkumba sealed their promotion with a commanding 61-37 victory over Amazon Rhino in Game Four of their best-of-five semifinal series, winning the series 3-1.

Privas Kayenyi delivered an outstanding double-double performance, tallying 15 points and an impressive 21 rebounds.

She was ably supported by Brenda Namubiru and Linda Mishelle, who contributed 11 and 13 points, respectively.

In the other semifinal series, Our Saviour Banyabo edged Angels in a dramatic Game Five, claiming a narrow 60-59 overtime victory to clinch the series.

Barbra Gimbo led with 14 points, while Phiona Apiyo and Vivian Faith Onyami added 13 and 10 points, respectively, to secure their team’s promotion.

The two teams replace YMCA Lady Hamstars and Kampala University, who were relegated from the NBL last season. Nkumba and Our Saviour Banyabo will now battle it out in the FUBA Division One Final to determine the champion.

The promotion of Nkumba and Our Saviour Banyabo completes the roster for the 2025 Women’s NBL, which will also feature JKL Lady Dolphins, UCU Lady Canons, KIU Rangers, JT Lady Jaguars, KCCA Leopards, Miracle Ravens, Magic Stormers, UPDF Lady Tomahawks, A1 Challenge and Nabisunsa.
