Despite facing a 14-point deficit to league leaders Vipers SC, BUL FC Head Coach Abbey Kikomeko has boldly declared his team’s intention to challenge for the Uganda Premier League title.
BUL, who narrowly missed out on the championship to SC Villa last season, endured a slow start to the 2024/25 campaign, accumulating only 20 points from their first 15 matches.
However, with the league set to resume for the second round, Kikomeko is confident his side can climb the table and mount a late title charge.
“Our target this second round is to fight for the title,” Kikomeko told NBS Sport. “Last season, Vipers started well, but we were in the title conversation towards the end. I believe we can do the same this season. What we have to do is win our games and keep climbing the table.”
BUL’s record this season includes 4 wins, 3 losses, and 8 draws.
In contrast, Vipers boast a superior record of 10 wins, 4 draws, and 1 loss.
The title race is expected to be highly competitive, with other contenders such as NEC (10 wins, 3 draws, 2 losses), KCCA FC, Express FC, and SC Villa all vying for the championship.
Kikomeko and his players face a challenging uphill battle for the remainder of the Uganda Premier League season.
