Hamz Nakivubo Stadium will roar to life tomorrow, January 26th, as it hosts the highly anticipated Liberation Day Boxing event.

The action-packed evening will feature over 12 bouts, headlined by a high-stakes 10-round super lightweight clash between Uganda’s Latib Muwonge and Tanzania’s Karim Rufundo.

Final preparations were completed today following the weigh-in session at the stadium, which saw last-minute changes to the fight card.

Originally scheduled matchups were altered due to weight discrepancies involving some of the Tanzanian fighters, leading to new pairings in both the main event and the welterweight division.

Muwonge, initially set to face Karim Migea, will now battle Rufundo in the headline fight. Another adjustment sees Isaac Sebuufu taking on Tanzania’s Kapingo Enest in a 10-round bout after his original opponent, Laurent Segu, was replaced.

The welterweight division will also bring fireworks as Junju Power steps into the ring against Karim Migea in an 8-round contest.

Wasswa Robert, spokesperson for Big Strikers Promotions, addressed the changes, explaining that the weight discrepancies became apparent upon the Tanzanian fighters’ arrival in Uganda.

Despite the alterations, he assured fans that the fighters are prepared to deliver an electrifying evening of boxing.

Undercard fights featuring rising talents like Isaac Masembe, Derrick Mubiru, and Junju Power add to the event’s promise of thrilling action, setting the tone for an exciting 2025 boxing season.
