The National Intermediate Boxing Championships have officially begun at the NCS Arena in Lugogo.
Organized by the Uganda Boxing Federation, the event commenced on January 25, 2025, with weigh-ins and medical check-ups for the participating boxers, followed by the official draw later in the afternoon.
Boxers from across the country are now locked in fierce competition as they battle for supremacy in their respective weight categories.
Preliminary bouts began today, January 27 and will continue through January 30, with action starting daily at 8:00 AM.
The championships have drawn significant interest from boxing clubs nationwide, with each club paying a registration fee of UGX 100,000 to participate.
Following four days of intense preliminary bouts, January 31 has been set aside as a rest day to allow boxers time to recover and prepare for the finals.
The grand finale, scheduled for February 1, promises thrilling action as finalists compete for top honors and a chance to qualify for the national open championships.
