Lugazi Football Club have announced the signing of striker Jumah Lutakome Junior from Paidha Black Angels on a one-year contract.
The forward becomes the club’s fifth acquisition during the mid-season transfer window ahead of the second half of the Uganda Premier League season.
Lutakome joins Lugazi after a three-year stint with Paidha Black Angels where he contributed significantly to their two trophy wins and was instrumental in their promotion to the FUFA Big League last season.
His goal in the promotional playoffs against Northern Gateway at Bar Okoro stadium last June cemented his status as a key player for the West Nile side.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for me to compete in the Uganda Premier League,” Lutakome expressed. “When I learned of Lugazi’s interest, the decision was easy. Playing for a prominent club has always been my ambition, and I’m eager to get started, enjoy the journey, and contribute to the team’s success.”
The striker acknowledged the competitive environment at Lugazi but exuded confidence in his abilities.
“The strong competition here doesn’t intimidate me. I believe in my potential to be the best in my position, and I’m confident I’ll prove that over time,” he said.
Lutakome’s goal-scoring prowess was honed at Wobulenzi United, where he netted an impressive 36 goals between 2018 and 2022.
His contributions were vital in the club’s rise from the Luweero district fourth division to the Buganda Regional League, securing two league titles along the way.
He also played a key role in Gomba’s record-breaking fifth Buganda Masaza Cup triumph in 2020.
Described as a versatile forward, Lutakome is comfortable leading the attack, operating as a number ten, or cutting in from wide positions.
His dribbling skills and ball control are notable assets, and his shooting ability makes him a constant threat to opposing goalkeepers.
