Uganda’s She Cranes suffered a tough start to their Vitality Netball Nations Cup 2025 campaign, falling 75-40 to a dominant South African side in their opening match on Saturday.
Despite their best efforts, Uganda struggled to contain the Proteas, who came into the tournament ranked world No. 5.
South Africa’s strong defensive play and quick ball movement proved too much for the She Cranes, who will now shift focus to their next game against Malawi on Sunday.
With England securing a 62-36 victory over Malawi in the other opening match, Uganda will be aiming for a much-improved performance when they face their fellow African rivals.
A win against Malawi would keep Uganda’s hopes alive in the tournament and help them push for a strong finish in the competition.
The She Cranes have previously had close encounters with Malawi, making Sunday’s match a crucial battle for both teams as they seek their first victory in the Vitality Netball Nations Cup.
