Drileba: Namblazers’ Strong Structure Impressed Me

Namuwongo Blazers’ new signing Tony Drileba attributes his move to the side to the continued development of the team over the years.

The experienced guard who brings experience and quality to the 2022 FUBA National Basketball Lague finalists says the team has worked towards growth through improving management which motivated him to join the side.

Drileba was last week unveiled as the new club signing alongside former City Oilers teammate James Okello and duo Henry Ssebagala and Moses Mugisha from Our Savior.

“I feel like over the years they have done a good job setting up a structure and when the team approached me this year, I was impressed with what they are building,” Drileba stated.

With the addition of the four players, the Steven Nyeko-coached side boasts a deep squad which Drileba alludes to.

“It’s a good roster of experienced and youthful players. The two additions from Our Savior were consistent last season, players like Michael Makiadi and Paul Odong are experienced together with myself and James Okello. I believe it’s a team that can compete,” he said.

Regarding targets for the upcoming season, he says it will be a competitive season.

“I respect every team and it’s not a guaranteed championship for us. The other teams are preparing to compete and win but our focus is on us and not the competition as we look to win,” noted Drileba.

The 2025 NBL season will tip off on 14th March with team registration set for this month.
