Sharifah Kateete Set to Make History at Motocross World Cup Amidst Federation Funding Fracas

Uganda’s motocross scene is about to witness history. Sharifah Kateete, the first-ever Ugandan woman to compete at the prestigious Women’s Motocross Cup in Australia, is set to make her mark on the international stage.

The event, scheduled for March, will feature five talented female riders from across Africa, with Sharifah flying the Ugandan flag alone.

Sharifah’s journey to this point has been nothing short of inspiring.

As the MX Lady Captain, she has led by example, overcoming obstacles to push for greater representation of women in the sport.

Her determination and skill have paved the way for others to follow, and now, Sharifah stands on the brink of making her dream a reality.

However, as with any great achievement, the road hasn’t been without its challenges.

The family’s preparation for the Women’s Motocross Cup has been undermined by the recent freeze of the Federation of Motorsport Uganda’s (FMU) account. This situation has led Sharifah and her father, Abdul Kateete, to publicly voice their concerns.

Speaking on the NBS Sport Morning Show, Premier Sport Sandabula, Abdul Kateete shared their frustrations, revealing that they may take their grievances to Parliament as a protest against the Federation’s actions.

While this uncertainty looms, Sharifah’s resolve remains unshaken. She continues to train and prepare with the highest hopes of showcasing her skills on the world stage.

The coming weeks will reveal the outcome of the battle between Sharifah Kateete and the Federation, but one thing is clear: Sharifah is ready to make history.
