The Cricket Cranes started their ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B Second Round campaign on a high note, securing a convincing 52-run win over Bahrain at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground.
Uganda posted 249/9 in their 50 overs before bowling out Bahrain for 197 in 44.1 overs.
Raghav Dhawan was the standout performer with the bat, scoring a crucial 85 off 105 balls, including 11 boundaries.
Captain Riazat Ali Shah provided solid support with a 49-run knock, while Robinson Obuya added 43 at the top of the order.
Uganda’s innings was further boosted by late contributions from Alpesh Ramjani (20*) and Fred Achelam (17).
Bahrain’s chase got off to a disastrous start as Juma Miyagi (4/53) struck early, dismissing opener Rishabh Ramesh for a duck and Shahbaz Badar for zero.
Asif Ali was the lone warrior for Bahrain, scoring an impressive 83 off 92 balls with eight fours and four sixes, but he received little support from the rest of the batting lineup.
Sohail Ahmed (43 off 86) attempted to steady the innings, but Uganda’s bowling attack proved too strong.
Miyagi was the pick of the bowlers, while Cosmas Kyewuta (2/26) and Bilal Hassan (2/42) also made key breakthroughs.
Dinesh Nakrani chipped in with one wicket as Uganda wrapped up the win in 44.1 overs.
With this victory, the Cricket Cranes set the tone for their Challenge League B campaign and will be aiming to maintain their winning momentum in the upcoming fixtures.
Uganda will face Singapore next on Monday 10th February at 4 AM.
