Construction of the Hoima City Stadium has reached the halfway mark, with the main structure now 50% complete, according to Turkish contractors SUMMA.
The project, which is progressing at an impressive pace, is set to enter a major phase as roofing is expected to begin in April and be completed well before the year ends.
A workforce of over 1,000, including 180 expatriates from Turkey, 140 technical specialists from the region, and nearly 700 local workers, is operating 24/7 to deliver Uganda’s second national stadium.
With 63 subcontractors also on board, SUMMA remains confident in completing the $129.7 million multi-sports complex ahead of its designated 18-month timeline.
Once finished, Hoima City Stadium will be a state-of-the-art facility, lighting up the Bunyoro skyline in Uganda’s national colors and serving as a key venue for the AFCON 2027 finals.
The project includes a main stadium, an auxiliary football field, a mini indoor arena, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, outdoor courts, and extensive parking areas.
As Uganda prepares to host the continent’s biggest football tournament, the rapid progress in Hoima is a major boost to the country’s sports infrastructure, with SUMMA’s commitment ensuring that the facility will be ready for action on schedule.
