The Chaapa League returns for its highly anticipated 10th season, and it’s set to be bigger and bolder than ever before, with Uganda Breweries’ Guinness as the main sponsor.
The season officially kicks off this Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the NEC grounds in Kampala, marking the beginning of 19 exciting matchdays before culminating in a grand finale at Mbarara High School in October.
Chaapa League Chairman, Kenedy Gumisiriza, shared that the decision to conclude the season at Mbarara High School carries significant sentimental value.
“We want this to be a proper homecoming for all alumni, a chance for them to return to their beloved school and witness the remarkable transformations, both inside and outside,” he explained.
This season will follow a league format, with the top eight teams advancing to the quarterfinals.
From there, the intensity will escalate, leading to the semifinals and ultimately, the highly anticipated finals.
Among the standout teams expected to make a strong impact are the Bulls, Convicts, and Rugabo City, who have consistently dominated in previous seasons. Fans are eagerly anticipating what these teams will bring to the pitch.
Reflecting on their ongoing partnership with Guinness, Gumisiriza highlighted the brand’s role in enhancing the football experience.
“Our beer sponsor Guinness has not only fueled the competitive spirit on the pitch but also elevated matchday experiences with engaging activations, fan interactions, and community-driven initiatives. This partnership is a perfect match, given Guinness’ strong ties to football, and it has solidified the league’s reputation as a premier football event,” he noted.
While football will remain the main draw every Sunday at NEC grounds, the Chaapa League is also committed to creating a positive impact off the field.
This season will see several Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, including tree planting along the Mbarara Highway, free medical testing, a blood donation drive, and a dedicated medical camp day.
Last year, the league demonstrated its community spirit by cleaning the streets of Bugolobi, where matches are held weekly.
