A high-powered delegation comprising Sports Ministers, CAF representatives, and Local Organising Committees (LOCs) officials for CHAN 2025 and AFCON 2027 has concluded its inspection tour in Uganda.

The delegation, hosted by the Ugandan government and the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), assessed the country’s progress in preparing for the upcoming continental tournaments.

Led by Uganda’s State Minister for Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang, the delegation held a high-level meeting with First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Museveni, at State House on Thursday.

During the meeting, officials provided an update on Uganda’s readiness, highlighting that preparations for CHAN, set for August 2025 are currently over 90% complete.

The delegation toured various sports infrastructure projects, including stadiums and support facilities, ensuring compliance with CAF standards.

Overall, CAF officials expressed satisfaction with Uganda’s progress, noting significant strides in upgrading facilities to meet international requirements.

The delegation, which included key CAF figures such as Director of Tournaments and Events Samson Adamu and Infrastructure Consultant Stephanie Totokra, will now proceed to Tanzania for further assessments before concluding their tour in Kenya.

Both CHAN 2025 and AFCON 2027 will be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania in what will be the first joint hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations in East Africa.
