Platinum Credit Heathens player Emmanuel “Biggie” Byamugisha suffered a fractured fibula during the weekend’s tense Nile Special Rugby Premiership match against Toyota Buffaloes at Kyadondo Rugby Club.
The injury occurred in a physically intense contest that saw Heathens fall to a narrow 21-20 defeat, their third consecutive loss of the season.
Byamugisha went down in visible pain following a heavy collision, and medical personnel quickly attended to him before confirming a fracture in the lower third of his fibula.
The club has since announced that he will require surgery for a full recovery, with medical measures already in place to manage pain and stabilize the injury ahead of the procedure.
The news comes as a major setback for the struggling Heathens, who have been trying to regain their dominance after losses to the Pirates and Jinja Hippos in previous weeks.
Byamugisha, known for his physicality and leadership will be sidelined for an extended period, leaving the team to adjust in his absence.
Despite the injury, Heathens remain optimistic about his recovery. “Biggie is a warrior, and we know he’ll fight through this like the champion he is,” the club stated in their official update.
