Born in St. Louis, Senegal, Diouf’s illustrious career spanned continents, solidifying his reputation as one of Africa’s finest football exports.

A two-time African Footballer of the Year, Diouf earned 43 caps for Senegal’s Teranga Lions, scoring 16 goals.

He etched his name into history during the 2002 FIFA World Cup in South Korea, where his standout performances included playing a key role in Papa Bouba Diop’s iconic goal against France.

Diouf’s club career saw him grace some of Europe’s top leagues, including stints in France, England, and Scotland.

He represented prestigious clubs such as Liverpool, Blackburn Rovers, and Bolton Wanderers. At Bolton, he enjoyed a particularly fruitful period, making 114 appearances, scoring 21 goals, and providing 15 assists.

Since retiring in 2016, Diouf has remained deeply connected to the sport. As a mentor, coach, sports ambassador, and commentator, he continues to inspire young talent.

His recent four-day visit to Uganda further highlighted his enduring passion for football. During the tour, he sought to motivate aspiring athletes and promote Uganda’s image on the global stage.
