World Rugby has released the pools and schedule for the third round of the 7s Challenger Series in Krakow, Poland.
Eight men’s and eight women’s teams qualified for the tournament from the first two rounds in Cape Town earlier this month. Among those is Uganda’s Lady Rugby Cranes 7s who were the eighth-ranked team in the women’s standings.
Uganda was drawn in Pool A with Colombia, Thailand, and double-champions Kenya.
Women’s Pools for 7s Challenger 2025 Krakow:
• Pool A: Kenya, Colombia, Thailand, Uganda.
• Pool B: South Africa, Argentina, Czechia, Poland.
The tournament will be played from April 11-12 at the Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium.
Pools Fixtures on April 11 (all EAT):
• 11.50 a.m.: Kenya v Uganda
• 2.58 p.m.: Colombia v Uganda
• 6.50 p.m.: Thailand v Uganda
Only the top four from Krakow will progress to the final qualification tournament in Los Angeles, USA.
Uganda’s training squad:
Twenty-two players were summoned for training and withdrawn from club selection in preparation for Krakow.
These are; Peace Lekuru, Maimuna Nassozi, Mary Gloria Ayot, Samiya Ayikoru, Agnes Nakuya, Janet Nandugwa, Sandra Amoli Lona, Flavia Ayaa, Yvonne Najjuma, Esther Tino, Comfort Anganyika, Racheal Mufuwa, Grace Auma, Suzan Adong, Lydia Namabiro, Grace Nabaggala, Gertrude Kateesa Junior, Tina Akello, Unity Namulala, Nambozo Mastula, Mercy Atek, and Habiba Namulembwa.
Uganda’s men’s team finished ninth in Cape Town, just outside the top eight, and thus, did not qualify for Krakow.
