The Nevada Athletic Commission has imposed suspensions on two former UFC fighters, Jeff Molina and Darrick Minner, following revelations of their involvement in an illegal betting scheme.
Minner, 34, received a 29-month ban for failing to disclose a serious knee injury ahead of his November 2022 fight against Shayilan Nuerdanbieke. His injury led to a swift defeat in the first round.
Meanwhile, Molina, 27, has been banned for three years after admitting to placing a significant bet on Minner’s bout, knowing about his team-mate’s injury.
This incident raised suspicions of foul play, prompting an investigation into illegal betting activity involving UFC fighters and coaches.
Both fighters trained under former UFC fighter turned coach James Krause, who is also under scrutiny for alleged involvement in the scheme.
Krause has been barred from serving as a cornerman or running his gym, and remains suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission.
Molina’s suspension is set to end in November 2025, while Minner will be eligible to return by March of the same year. The incident underscores growing concerns about integrity in combat sports.
