Kabalega SS and Masindi Army Triumph in Masindi District Football Qualifiers

The Masindi District football qualifiers concluded in thrilling fashion on March 24th at Masindi Stadium, with Kabalega SS and Masindi Army emerging as champions in the boys’ and girls’ categories, respectively.

These matches determined the teams advancing to the Zonal stage for the upcoming National Boys Football Championship and USSSA Ball Games I.

Kabalega SS secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Masindi SS to claim the boys’ title, while Masindi Army edged past Masindi SS 2-1 in an intense final to clinch the girls’ championship.

Both victories highlighted the fierce competitiveness and skill on display throughout the tournament.

In the boys’ category, Kabalega SS, Masindi SS, and Greenfield SS will now proceed to the Bunyoro Zonal Qualifiers, which serve as the final hurdle before the National stage. On the girls’ side, Masindi Army, Masindi SS, and St. Theresa Girls will represent the district in the Zonal stage.

Masindi District Sports Association Chairperson, Mr. Joseph Rukundo, commended all participants for a successful and peaceful event, expressing optimism for the district’s performance at the next level.

“I am delighted that Masindi District has successfully concluded the games. I urge our schools to prepare thoroughly for the Zonal Games in Hoima City, and we look forward to Team Masindi bringing home the Bunyoro title,” he said.

The Zonal qualifiers are scheduled to be hosted by Duhaga Secondary School in Hoima City next month, setting the stage for intense competition as schools battle for a chance to shine on the national stage.

Key dates to mark include the Boys Football National Championship in Ngora and USSSA Ball Games I in Bukedea from April 26th to May 5th, 2025.
