Lugazi Football Club have confirmed the appointment of seasoned tactician Abbey Kikomeko Bogere as their new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season.
Kikomeko, who has been out of management since parting ways with BUL in December 2025, signed a two‑year deal with the Lugazi side. He replaces Simon Peter Mugerwa, whose tenure ended with the close of the 2025/26 campaign.
The former BUL boss arrives with a proven record, having guided the Eastern Giants to consecutive FUFA Super 8 titles in 2023 and 2024. He also steered BUL to a runners‑up finish in the Uganda Premier League during the 2023/24 season, cementing his reputation as one of the league’s most respected coaches.
Kikomeko is expected to assemble his technical team in the coming weeks following the exit of assistant coach Robert Sekweyama. His résumé includes successful stints at Busoga United, where he secured promotion to the top flight in 2016, and Mbale Heroes.
Lugazi will be banking on his experience to lift the club after a difficult debut campaign in the top division. The team finished 13th last season with 25 points, narrowly avoiding relegation.
