Uganda’s delegation to the ISF U15 Gymnasiade 2025 has officially been flagged off ahead of the global school sports event set to take place in Zlatibor, Serbia, from April 4th to 14th.
A contingent of 47 athletes and officials, including 34 student-athletes, will represent the country in badminton, table tennis, swimming, and athletics.
The flag-off ceremony, held at Copper Chimney, Lugogo, was presided over by Cleophas Mugenyi, the Acting Director of Basic Education at the Ministry of Education and Sports, who emphasized the role of sports in Uganda’s education system.
“The vision of the Ministry is excelling in education and sports. Seeing these students going out to represent the country is confirmation and an affirmation of our vision as a country,” Mugenyi stated.
The event was attended by key sports officials, including Sammy Odong, Assistant Commissioner of Physical Education, and Patrick Okanya, USSSA President Emeritus. Justus Mugisha, President of USSSA, lauded the efforts of Kibuli S.S., Seroma Christian High School, and the athletics team, highlighting Uganda’s growing prominence in school sports.
