Wimbledon is set to celebrate its 150th anniversary in style, with ambitious plans to renovate its famous ‘Henman Hill’ and boost its capacity by 20% for the 2027 tournament.
Known for its vibrant atmosphere, the grass slope has long provided a space for thousands of fans to watch matches on a big screen, even without show-court tickets.
The proposed upgrade, which still awaits approval, aims to make the beloved hill more accessible to all visitors.
The project comes as part of a broader effort to enhance the All England Club, following the approval of a 39-court expansion last year.
Four-time Wimbledon semi-finalist Tim Henman, the hill’s namesake, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative.
“It’s all about enhancing this whole area. Obviously, it’s become extremely popular, but accessibility is difficult for everyone. This is going to be an exciting project,” Henman said.
