Uganda to Host African Handball President Dr. Mansourou

Dr. Adolphe Aremou Mansourou, President of the African Handball Confederation (CAHB), is scheduled to visit Uganda for the first time.

His visit will coincide with the country’s hosting of the 2025/2026 International Handball Federation (IHF) Trophy Africa Zone 5 tournament.

The tournament, set to take place in Kampala from May 6 to 12, 2025, will showcase some of the continent’s most promising young talent in the women’s U-17 (junior) and U-19 (youth) categories.

Ten national teams, including Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Egypt, are expected to compete for a chance to qualify for the Continental Phase of the IHF Trophy Africa.

Dr. Mansourou is expected to attend the event as Guest of Honor, a move that organizers say underlines Uganda’s growing influence in regional handball. His visit is seen as a major endorsement of the country’s efforts to promote and develop the sport at the grassroots and national levels.

“We are truly honored to host Dr. Aremou Mansourou for the very first time in handball history,” said Dan Musoke, head of the local organizing committee.

Musoke also confirmed that preparations are underway to ensure the tournament runs smoothly.

“We are going to have two venues. The U-17 matches will be held at the Old Kampala Arena, while the U-19 games will be hosted at St. Juliana Secondary School in Maywanga,” he explained.
