USSSA President Justus Mugisha has called on the government to fulfill its earlier pledge to equip each school zone with a sports facility and a bus, citing the importance of such support in sustaining school sports development.
While speaking during the official flag-off of Uganda’s representatives to the CAF Africa Schools Football Championship, Mugisha expressed gratitude for the current support but reminded leaders of an outstanding promise made during a past visit to the State House.
“We thank the government for the support given to school sports. We want to remind you that during our visit at the State House, the President promised us that each zone would receive one bus and a sports facility; up to now, we are still waiting,” he said.
The ceremony, hosted at the Parliament of Uganda, saw the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Annita Among, officially dispatch the two teams—St. Noa Girls and St. Mary’s Kitende—to Ghana.
The teams have since arrived safely in Accra ahead of the tournament, which begins on April 23.
