World Athletics has cancelled the 2025 World Road Running Championships, citing insufficient planning time after the relocation from San Diego.
While discussions with alternative hosts showed potential for future events, the Council decided against awarding the 2025 edition due to the need to properly accommodate both elite and mass participation races.
Attention now turns to the 2026 championships in Copenhagen (September 19-20).
