Track and field athletes participated in the fifth edition of the National Athletics Trials held yesterday at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
The event served as preparation for the 23rd John Akii Bua Memorial Meeting scheduled for June, with a focus on improving times and gaining exposure for emerging talents.
Athletes from various clubs and institutions competed in track events, long jump, discus throw, and javelin.
Uganda Athletics Federation spokesperson Abdallah Muhammad said the trials act as a pathway to select the best performers who will represent at this year’s Akii Bua Memorial.
Regional championships and primary school tournaments are also lined up as part of the federation’s athletics calendar.
