The second edition of the Deo Akope Challenge is set to take place from April 30 to May 3 at Entebbe Golf Club, aiming to inspire junior golfers while providing competitive action for seasoned professionals.
Last year’s winner, David Kamulindwa, will be among 33 men and women competing for a total prize pool of Shs15 million in the four-day tournament.
The event will feature juniors, gross amateurs, seniors, professionals, and subsidiary players, all vying for cash prizes and awards. Side bets have also been lined up to add excitement to the competition.
Three-time Uganda Amateur Open champion and two-time professional winner Deo Akope, who initiated the event, says the tournament’s focus is on motivating young players to grow through the game.
Reflecting on this year’s preparations, Kamulindwa expressed optimism about the quality of competition and the opportunity to inspire upcoming talent.
Held under the theme “Empowering the Next Generation Through Golf”, the Deo Akope Challenge continues to position itself as a platform for mentorship and excellence in Ugandan golf.
