NBS Sport, NextCom Partner to Broadcast Tweeps vs TikTokers Football Showdown

The second edition of the Tweeps vs TikTokers football showdown has received a major boost with NBS Sport and NextCom confirmed as the event’s official broadcast and content partners.

Announced at a press conference held at Next Media Park, the partnership marks a significant step in elevating the annual contest between Uganda’s top content creators on X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok.

This year’s match is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 11, at the YES Center in Nsambya, with kickoff set for 3:00 PM.

Andrew Kabura, Head of Sports Broadcast at NBS Sport, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, describing it as a long-term commitment to supporting local content-driven events.

“We are very happy to be part of this fantastic battle. We hope for a great game on Sunday, and we’ll be broadcasting the action live. This is fantastic for viewers and fans on the ground. Our partnership is not just for one day—it’s long-term. Please continue to join us at NBS Sport as we support and grow Ugandan sport,” Kabura said.

Danze Edwin, Head of Marketing, NextCom who also run the Next Influencer platform, underlined the broader goal of empowering content creators beyond the digital space.

“We’re coming on board with our Next Influencer platform, aimed at helping creators gain more gigs, earn more money, and better understand the impact they have as a collective. This event is about building their influence beyond digital platforms,” he stated.

The match, which blends entertainment and community spirit, is expected to be both friendly and fiercely contested, featuring popular online figures from both platforms.

Influencer team leaders Source Gaaland (Tweeps) and Timix Fresh (TikTokers) welcomed the support from Uganda’s leading media houses.

“This is a great opportunity. Last year, many fans couldn’t access the field—some were upcountry, others abroad. With NBS Sport on board, the game becomes more accessible and valuable. Whether you’re busy or far away, you can still be part of this event,” Source said.

Fans unable to attend in person will be able to follow the action live on NBS Sport and via the AfroMobile app, expanding the event’s reach beyond the stadium.
