The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) 2025 lower division leagues, including divisions one and two, are set to be hosted at the Hamz Stadium Nakivubo starting this weekend.
This was confirmed in a press conference held at the stadium on Thursday.
The leagues include the Division 1 Men, Division 1 Women and Division 2 Men which will run under the new Lower League Management Committee (LLMC 2025-2026), mandated by the FUBA Executive Committee.
“We shall have our opening games at the Hamz stadium Nakivubo this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday and thereafter, we will be having mainly our Saturday games at the stadium,” noted Brian Lugyendo, the chairperson of the Lower League management committee.

The opening weekend promises early fireworks with 20 games on schedule at the two basketball courts.
“The Our savior Banyabo ladies team withdrew and was replaced by Angels basketball club which happened to be the third place team last year in Division 1 ladies category,” he added.
Rezlife Saints were crowned champions of the Men’s Division 1 league last season and were promoted to the National Basketball League (NBL) together with finalists Victoria Crocs, while Our Savior Banyabo, who emerged champions of the ladies’ category, were promoted to the Women’s NBL with finalists Nkumba Lady Marines.
From the Division 2 Men’s category, champions YMCA Hamsters and finalists Charging Rhinos were promoted to Division 1.

The end of the same (2024) season also ushered in a new division structure with the introduction of the central regional league, anticipated to begin later this year (2025).
Consequently, this resulted in the relegation of 6 teams from the Division 1 Men’s category and 5 from the Division 2 Men.
The 2025 season promises to be another action-packed, nail-biting thriller series, with 12 teams in the Division 1 Men’s category (Down from 16 in 2024), 14 teams in the Division 1 Women’s category (Up from 11), and 12 teams in the Division 2 Men’s category (Down from 13).
The fans will look forward to what comes from the newly formed Pearl Queens and Victoria She Crocs, and the returning Lady Jills to the Division 1 Women, as well as former NBL power houses Power Basketball Club and Ndejje Angels to the Division 1 Men.
