Real Madrid are pushing to sign England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool before the Club World Cup.
The 26-year-old is leaving Liverpool as a free agent when his contract expires on June 30th, but Real Madrid want him available for the tournament starting earlier.
BBC Sport understands Real have approached Liverpool to negotiate an early release, potentially offering around £850,000 or covering his remaining wages.
Discussions are reportedly amicable.
FIFA has a short transfer window (June 1-10) for Club World Cup teams.
Real’s urgency gives Liverpool a chance to get some money for the departing star. Alexander-Arnold’s exit ends a successful Liverpool career.
