Construction of Hoima City Stadium continues to make visible strides as the project enters a new month, with Turkish firm SUMMA accelerating key installations and final touches on major components of the multi-sports facility.
As of early May, workers on site have begun assembling spectator seats within the main bowl, marking a significant visual milestone in the stadium’s development.
Painting is also underway in the VIP section, giving shape to premium viewing areas ahead of further interior works.
Meanwhile, final concrete works are being completed inside the mini indoor arena, which is part of the wider sports complex.
As @TukaaBrian says, it’s a great time to be alive as a Ugandan!⁰

This progress follows a rapid construction timeline since the ground-breaking last year.
The $129 million facility is scheduled for completion within 18 months and will include a 20,000-seater main stadium, a 2,000-seater indoor arena, a semi-Olympic-sized swimming pool, and outdoor courts for basketball, netball, and volleyball.
SUMMA’s work in Hoima also aligns with Uganda’s broader infrastructure preparations for hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), as the company is expected to begin upgrades on Mandela National Stadium (Namboole) in September, pending government procurement approvals.
The Hoima City Stadium project stands as a centerpiece of Uganda’s sports infrastructure expansion, with both the government and local stakeholders lauding SUMMA’s commitment to fast-tracking delivery ahead of schedule.
