The sixth edition of the National Athletics Trials took place on Saturday 10th May at the Mandela National Stadium.
Since their launch on March 1 2025, the trials have consistently attracted a large pool of athletes seeking to sharpen their skills and secure places in upcoming international competitions.
This year’s trials carry added significance as the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) commemorates 100 years of existence.
UAF President Dominic Otuchet praised the performances recorded in the sixth trial, pointing to noticeable progress among participants.
One of the standout moments came from middle-distance runner Tom Dradiga, who registered his season’s best time in the men’s 800m, signaling the impact of sustained training and competitive pressure.
“Looking at the trials, athletes are achieving their best times as we progress. I see almost every athlete improving their performance, and by the seventh trial, several of them will qualify for international events,” Otuchet said.
