Kyadondo Ssaza team has officially designated Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo as their home ground for the upcoming 2025 Masaza Cup campaign.
The move was confirmed after Kyadondo Ssaza Chief, Hajji Ahmed Magandazi Matovu, signed a one-year agreement with the Hamz Stadium committee. This development marks a major shift from last season, where Kyadondo hosted its home matches across three venues: Wankulukuku, Hormsdallen Gayaza, and Betharm City in Kiwenda.
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, Kyadondo Ssaza Chairman Hon. Khalid Ssimbwa expressed optimism about the team’s new base, describing the decision as a strategic step towards improving performance and fan satisfaction.
“This is a fresh chapter for us,” Hon. Ssimbwa said. “Ham Stadium is a world-class facility, and we believe it will positively impact the team’s performance. We are excited to give our fans a better football experience.”
Hon. Ssimbwa also reassured fans that the switch to a more modern venue will not affect ticket pricing. “We want to assure our supporters that the entrance fee stays at Shs10,000 — the same as last season. Despite moving to a modern venue, we are keeping football affordable. I urge our fans to come in large numbers and fill the stadium.”
Rogers Mulindwa, Chairman of Hamz Stadium, welcomed the partnership and commended Kyadondo’s professionalism during the negotiation process.
“We commend Kyadondo for showing interest in using our stadium. They approached us in a very organized manner, and we’ve signed a one-year agreement for the upcoming season,” Mulindwa said.
“Their officials visited and were impressed with the facilities. We’ve even made accommodation available if needed. This is a conducive environment where they can perform better than their fourth-place finish last year.”
Mulindwa, who previously served as General Secretary of the Masaza Cup Committee, also urged the team to maintain discipline, particularly among their fanbase.
“I’ve reminded the team to emphasize discipline, especially among their supporters. We want to keep this stadium in good condition throughout the season. Having been involved with the Masaza Cup for eight years, I know how fans can sometimes get carried away.”
Kyadondo were semifinalists in the 2024 edition, bowing out to eventual champions Buddu. Their last Masaza Cup title came in 2008 when they defeated Gomba 2-0 in the final.
Kyadondo will begin their 2025 campaign against Bulemeezi in their opening match. They are drawn in the Masengere Group alongside Buwekula, Mawokota, Buvuuma, Bugerere, and Bulemeezi.
