Premier League champions Liverpool have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Freddie Woodman from Preston North End on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old, who made 44 appearances for Preston last season, will join Arne Slot’s squad for pre-season training next month.
Woodman’s arrival provides experienced cover for Alisson Becker and the incoming Giorgi Mamardashvili, following Caoimhin Kelleher’s move to Brentford.
An ‘association trained’ player, Woodman won the World Cup with England Under-20s in 2017.
His background includes stints at Newcastle United and Swansea City, and his godfather is former England coach Gareth Southgate.
