Wolverhampton Wanderers have bolstered their defense with the signing of Cameroon international Jackson Tchatchoua from Hellas Verona.
The deal, valued at 12.5 million euros (£10.8 million), secures the “fastest Serie A player” on a five-year contract.
The 23-year-old, who can play as a right-back or wing-back, was clocked as the fastest player in the Italian league last season, with an average top speed of 34.88 kmph.
Wolves’ official announcement noted an even higher top speed of 36.3 kmph for the player. While impressive, this speed is just shy of the Premier League’s fastest player, Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven, who holds the league record at 37.38 kmph.
Tchatchoua scored two goals and provided three assists in 37 appearances for Hellas Verona last season.
His signing marks the fifth major acquisition for Wolves during this transfer window, following the permanent transfers of Jorgen Strand Larsen (£23m), Fer Lopez (£19m), Jhon Arias (£15m), and David Moller Wolfe (£10m).
