The 2025 FEASSA International Sports Symposium ended in Kakamega with speakers emphasizing the need to elevate school sports both in organization and impact.
International School Sports Federation President Zeljko Tanaskovic, delivering the keynote address, underscored the role of school competitions in shaping future national athletes and building wider economic opportunities.
Uganda’s Commissioner for Physical Education and Sports, Rev. Can. Dr. Duncans Mugumya, reiterated government’s commitment to supporting school sports, describing it as a foundation for national teams.
FEASSA and USSSA President Justus Mugisha praised the progress made by member associations, noting Kenya’s success in drawing large crowds to the games.
He urged future hosts to prepare facilities that can accommodate the growing number of spectators.
“In the coming editions of FEASSA we might actually start asking for stadia so that people can watch our games comfortably. Therefore the next hosts must start thinking about that,” Mugisha said.
It was also confirmed during the discussions that Tanzania, who last hosted in 2022, will once again host the 23rd edition of the games in 2026.
Other speakers included Stelios Daskalakis, General Secretary of the European School Sport Federation, FASS Vice President Olabish Joseph, and ISF Executive Director Hasnae Iddriss, alongside ministry officials and heads of different associations.
