In a dramatic semi-final at the US Open, Amanda Anisimova defeated Naomi Osaka 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 to secure a spot in the final against top seed Aryna Sabalenka.
The win continues a remarkable comeback year for the 23-year-old American.
Anisimova, who reached the Wimbledon final earlier this season, is the youngest player to make both the Wimbledon and US Open finals in the same year since Serena and Venus Williams in 2002.
Her opponent, defending champion Sabalenka, also advanced after a tough 4-6 6-3 6-4 comeback victory over Jessica Pegula.
The final will be Sabalenka’s third consecutive at Flushing Meadows.
