As preparations for the 2025 East African Parliamentary Games heat up, Hon. Susan Thomas from South Sudan has endorsed Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo as the ideal venue for the regional sporting event, describing it as a world-class, multipurpose facility.
During an inspection visit on Friday, Hon. Thomas, who led the East African Community (EAC) delegation, lauded the newly redeveloped Nakivubo Stadium for its modern design and ability to accommodate multiple sports under one roof.
“This is a very good and modern stadium with everything needed for our parliamentary games. What makes it unique is its multipurpose nature, allowing fans to enjoy several games at once,” she said.
The East African Parliamentary Games, set to begin on December 5, will bring together lawmakers from EAC member states to compete in various disciplines aimed at promoting unity and regional integration through sports.
Hon. Asuman Basalirwa, Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee, expressed optimism about Uganda’s chances, noting that the defending champions are determined to maintain their winning streak.
Hamz Stadium Manager Ashraf Turyatunga also assured the delegation that the iconic facility is fully ready to host the games, saying all logistics, safety measures, and sporting amenities are in place to deliver a successful tournament.
