Kitende Tightens Grip as Wakiso Crown Reinforces Schools Football Supremacy

St Mary’s Kitende once again underlined their growing authority in school football, edging Kyadondo SS 2-1 to lift the USSSA Wakiso Boys’ Championship on Tuesday evening at Wakisha Grounds.

What unfolded was not just a final, but a statement of dominance from a side that continues to set the standard both within Wakiso and across Uganda’s schools football landscape.

The contest began cautiously, with Kyadondo SS opting for a patient build-up from deep, attempting to dictate tempo through controlled possession. That approach initially stretched Kitende’s midfield shape, but it proved short-lived.

As the game settled, Kitende raised the intensity. Guided by Daniel Male, they introduced a relentless high press that disrupted Kyadondo’s rhythm and forced errors in dangerous areas.

The breakthrough arrived before halftime, and it was a product of that pressure. Dennis Kisiriko pounced on loose possession and quickly released Jordan Tugume, who made no mistake in putting Kitende ahead.

Kyadondo sought a response, leaning on the pace and trickery of Masudi, but Kitende’s defensive unit remained composed, dealing with the threat with discipline and physical presence.

After the restart, Kitende continued to impose themselves. Their second goal came midway through the half, with Kisiriko turning from provider to scorer. Capitalizing on hesitation from goalkeeper Ashraf Lukyamuzi, he calmly finished to double the advantage.

Kyadondo were handed a lifeline late on when they won a penalty, and Masudi stepped up to convert, setting up a tense finale.

Tempers flared as the match drew to a close, with Junior Odinga and Collins Okyata both dismissed following an altercation, adding further edge to an already intense encounter.

But despite the late drama, the outcome never truly slipped from Kitende’s grasp. The final whistle confirmed yet another title, further cementing St Mary’s Kitende’s reputation as a powerhouse in Wakiso and a benchmark in Ugandan school football.
