Manchester City are considering legal action after Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme vowed to sign Erling Haaland if elected.
Riquelme brandished a Madrid shirt with Haaland’s name on TV, claiming the striker had a release clause and wanted to join.
City, alongside Haaland’s father and agent, issued a sharp denial: “The stories from Spain are untrue. There is no chance of this happening and no contractual clause to enable it.”
Riquelme also pledged to pursue Rodri, while promising sweeping reforms in his campaign against Florentino Perez ahead of the 7 June election. Perez remains favourite despite two trophyless seasons.
