Liverpool have signed Spanish winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna after activating his £34.5m release clause.
The 22-year-old, part of Spain’s World Cup squad, passed his medical in the US and will sign a six-year contract. He scored seven goals and added five assists last season, becoming Andoni Iraola’s first signing since replacing Arne Slot.
Newcastle had pursued Munoz as Anthony Gordon’s replacement, but Liverpool moved quickly to secure him. A La Masia graduate who also featured briefly for Real Madrid, Munoz is seen as “one of the pearls of Spanish football” with pace and versatility to fit Iraola’s system.
Liverpool expect him to strengthen their attack after Mohamed Salah’s departure and continue to monitor RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande.
