The Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) has joined forces with NFT Consult Group to unveil a landmark initiative designed to prepare athletes for life beyond competitive sport.
The program, which takes immediate effect, will support sportsmen and women as they shift from the rigors of competition into sustainable careers. It also creates pathways for individuals seeking professional opportunities within the wider sports industry.
NFT Consult Group Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Ntege told NBS Sport that the human resource management firm, operating in 12 countries starting with Uganda, aims to impact at least 5,000 people through the initiative. “This is about building a future where athletes are not only celebrated for their performance on the field but are also equipped to thrive off it,” she said.
The partnership falls under the National Sports Talent Development Initiative, with emphasis on community engagement, skills development, and professional growth within Uganda’s sports ecosystem.
UOC President Donald Rukare welcomed the collaboration, describing it as both timely and crucial. “This initiative is a significant step toward ensuring that our athletes are prepared for the next phase of their lives, with clear and sustainable career pathways,” he noted.
The rollout will cover multiple sports federations, targeting both Olympic and non-Olympic disciplines. Stakeholders believe the effort will not only empower athletes but also strengthen Uganda’s sports sector by promoting holistic and sustainable development.
