Mercedes have dropped their challenge to the Monaco Grand Prix result, accepting George Russell’s fall from third to 12th after a pit‑lane penalty.
Russell was punished for speeding by 0.1km/h, then hit with a drive‑through after failing to serve the initial sanction during a chaotic sequence of safety‑car and red‑flag interruptions. Mercedes argued the penalties exposed flaws but found no legal route to restore his position.
A team statement said discussions with FIA showed “clear determination” to address the unusual circumstances, making further pursuit pointless.
McLaren and Red Bull protests remain active before the FIA Court of Appeal.
