BUL were held to a 1-1 draw by NEC in a closely contested Uganda Premier League match at their home ground in Lugazi.
Cromwell Rwothiomio gave NEC the lead in the 37th minute with a powerful header from Gaddafi Wahab’s cross with the first half seeing BUL play without their head coach, who was absent due to CAF A coaching exams.
The second half was a more even affair, with both sides creating chances. However, it was BUL who found the equalizer in the 90th minute.
Nicholas Mwere pounced on the rebound from a corner kick to secure a point for the home side.
The draw leaves NEC at the top of the Uganda Premier League table with 27 points from 13 games, two points ahead of Vipers, who have played a game less.
BUL climb to 9th position with 16 points.
Elsewhere in the league, Bright Stars secured a crucial 2-1 victory over UPDF at Kavumba.
Goals from Warren Bule and Ashiraf Mulinde in the first half proved to be enough for Bright Stars to claim all three points.
This result lifts Bright Stars to 14th position with 9 points, ahead of Wakiso Giants and Mbale Heroes, who are also on 9 points.
Thursday’s Uganda Premier League action sees Police host Maroons at Kavumba, while URA face Lugazi at Hamz Stadium in Kampala.
