The Ugandan representatives at the U-17 CAF Girls Integrated Football Tournament in Tanzania, Boni Concilli Girls Vocational School Team, have secured a place in the third-place match after a closely contested group stage.
Facing stiff competition from TDS Girls of Tanzania and Aigle Noir FC of Burundi, Boni Concilli endured a challenging start, losing their opening match 2-0 to TDS.
However, TDS went on to defeat Aigle Noir 2-0, securing top spot in the group and a place in the finals.
In their final group stage match, Boni Concilli battled to a 1-1 draw against Aigle Noir.
Peace Ayiorwoth opened the scoring for Boni Concilli with a well-placed shot in the 10th minute. However, Aigle Noir’s Era Kezimana equalized with a long-range effort in the 88th minute.
With all two teams having lost their opening matches 2-0, the final standings were determined by disciplinary records.
Boni Concilli, with only one yellow card compared to Aigle Noir’s two, secured second place in the group.
Boni Concilli will now face Kenya Academy of Sports on January 16th at 6:00 PM in the third-place match.
