Saturday fixture
Express vs KCCA FC, Luzira (2pm)
KCCA FC will be hoping to go top of the 2022/23 Startimes Uganda premier league table on Saturday with victory away at Express in Luzira this Saturday, 13th May, 2023.
The game that will be played at 2pm local time was moved to Luzira from Wankulukuku to pave way for Bika Bya Baganda football and netball tournament opening day.
On 45 points, KCCA are 3rd on the log with just a point behind the two leaders that have played a game more. The 13-time champions will however be without head coach Jackson Mayanja and striker Kakonde Tshishungu who start their two and eight match sanctions respectively over indiscipline arising from Vipers SC game at Kitende.
Express FC Coach James Odoch scooped the Pilsner coach of the month of April on Thursday and will be much motivated ahead of the clash.
“We want to improve on our position but hosting from Luzira may impact us,” noted Odoch, who will still look to in-form captain and league top scorer (11 goals) Allan Kayiwa for inspiration.
Midfielders Daniel Shabene and Hussein Ssenoga are back just as left back Arthur Kiggundu. Winger Joseph Akwandanaho and defender Denis Otim need late fitness tests, while Joseph Dhata and Marvin Oshaba are suspended. Midfielders Ivan Mayanja and Shafiq Ssebyala are sidelined.
“We want to come back from the Vipers’ loss. We have a chance to go top which we do not want to blow away,” noted KCCA FC Assistant coach Charles Ssenyange who will be in charge.
Ssewanyana has almost a fully fit squad with the exception of Dominic Oyella who needs a late fitness test. The last five games between the two sides have seen KCCA win once and four draws.
