The 2025 Rugby Premiership season enters its seventh round this weekend, with the highly anticipated Kyadondo derby between Heathens and Buffaloes set to take center stage.
Once a feeder side for the Heathens, the Buffaloes have since established themselves as a top-flight team and will be eager to prove their worth against their more decorated counterparts.
The match, scheduled for 4:00 PM on March 1 at Kyadondo Rugby Club, will be broadcast live on NBS Sport.
While the Heathens boast a rich history and multiple league titles, they have had an inconsistent season so far, winning four and losing two of their last six matches.
They will be looking to get back to winning ways with a statement win over their former juniors.
Meanwhile, the Buffaloes have endured a mixed run of form, managing just two victories, two losses, and two draws in their last six outings.
Sitting in sixth place with 13 points, they face an uphill battle against the fifth-placed Heathens, who have 20 points.
Elsewhere, league leaders Jinja Hippos (26 points) will aim to maintain their unbeaten run when they visit the Eagles, while second-placed Pirates take on bottom-side Warriors at Legends, the grounds where they lost last weekend to Kobs.
KCB Kobs, currently tied with Pirates on 24 points, travel to Entebbe for a showdown with Mongers. Rhinos, who sit fourth with 22 points, will be tested by a tricky Walukuba side in Jinja.
The opening fixture of the day will see Victoria Sharks face Elgon Wolves at Kyadondo. This game will also be broadcast live on NBS Sport.
With KCB Kobs’ Joseph Aredo leading the points tally at 84, followed closely by Pirates’ William Nkore, the individual battle for top scorer will also be one to watch as the season progresses.
