Golden Glory: Victor Kiplangat’s Historic Marathon Victory for Uganda

Uganda’s Victor Kiplangat secured a remarkable victory at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest on Sunday morning . The 23-year-old long-distance runner completed the grueling 42-kilometer marathon in a staggering time of 2 hours, 8 minutes, and 52 seconds.

This achievement marked Kiplangat’s second gold medal in a major international competition, adding to his Commonwealth title. His win in Budapest made him the fifth Ugandan world champion in the event’s history.

The marathon was an intense battle, with Kiplangat and Ethiopia’s Leul Gebresilase neck and neck by the 35-kilometer mark, closely followed by defending champion Tamirat Tola and compatriot Stephen Kissa.

Kiplangat’s previous accomplishments include making history as the first Ugandan to win the Commonwealth Games Marathon in London last year, with an impressive finish time of 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 54 seconds.
