Brazilian forward Giancarlo Lopes Rodrigues has declared his departure from the UPL champions Vipers SC, despite having signed a two-year contract with the club just this past July. The reason for his exit is attributed to “unfortunate personal reasons involving a single individual,” as stated by Lopes himself.
This 33-year-old player had joined the Kitende side shortly before his compatriot, Leonard Martins Neiba, was introduced as the head coach, replacing Alex Isabirye, who had resigned from the same role due to disagreements regarding job responsibilities.
Furthermore, there are indications that Coach Leo Neiva may also be on the verge of leaving, as discussions about Alex Isabirye’s potential return to the club have surfaced, prompted by less-than-satisfactory results under Neiva’s leadership.
Vipers SC also faced disappointment by failing to secure qualification for the CAF Champions League, having been eliminated by Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy FC.
