After a seven-year project shaping Angolan football, coach Pedro Gonçalves is ready for his team to shine at the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) PAMOJA 2024.
Despite being in a tough “Group of Death” with Morocco, DR Congo, hosts Kenya, and Zambia, Gonçalves is confident his squad can succeed.
“This is their opportunity,” he said, emphasizing the importance of a strong start. The team’s opening match is on August 3 in Nairobi.
Gonçalves’ preparation has been meticulous, focusing on continuity by including ten players from the recent COSAFA Cup-winning team.
Although injuries and player transfers have presented challenges, the coach remains calm. He believes the team’s experience and unity, built over years of work, will give them an edge.
“Our mission is to turn years of work into results on the pitch,” Gonçalves declared, making it clear that Angola are there to make a statement.
