Mutyaba’s Sfaxien Deal Goes Through Following FIFA Ban Lift

Mutyaba has already featured in a few friendly games for the club

Uganda Cranes attacking midfielder Travis Mutyaba has officially been confirmed as a new player for Tunisian club CS Sfaxien.

Mutyaba made the move to Sfaxien in early July and has already featured in a couple of friendly matches for the club.

However, his official unveiling had been delayed due to a transfer ban imposed on the Tunisian side.

With the ban now lifted, CS Sfaxien has been cleared to register new players, and Mutyaba’s signing has been finalized.

The 19-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year deal, securing his future with the club at least until the end of the 2027/28 season.

Mutyaba joins Sfaxien from French outfit Bordeaux, where he had signed a three-year contract but left after less than a year.

His time in France was brief, and now he’s set to begin a new chapter in Tunisia.

Despite his young age, Mutyaba remains one of Uganda’s brightest talents. However, his club career has been somewhat turbulent.

Since leaving SC Villa, he has moved clubs almost every season, and his career took a major turn in February 2024 when he signed for Egyptian giants Zamalek.

The contract was eventually terminated just a few months later, marking another early departure in his career.

His move to Zamalek came with a five-year deal, signaling the belief the club had in his potential.

Now, at Sfaxien, Mutyaba is looking to settle and build on his promise.

He has already shown glimpses of his quality, scoring and assisting in the two games he’s played so far.

Hopefully this is the place where his talent finally comes to full fruition.

Mutyaba is not the first Ugandan to play for CS Sfaxien.

In 2015, striker Yunus Sentamu, now at Vipers SC plied his trade with the North African club.
