BetPawa and FUFA Join Forces to Revolutionize Ugandan Football Landscape

FUFA President Moses Magogo says progress was made in Tuesday’s meeting with Uganda Premier League clubs despite disagreements remaining over the proposed new league format.

Speaking after the closed-door talks at Serena Hotel, Magogo confirmed that consensus was reached on several competition reforms, including issues around gate collections, double headers, and data management.

He described the gathering as “a meeting of minds” where different perspectives were openly debated.

“The only issue that hasn’t been resolved is about the format,” Magogo explained. “We have agreed to meet again on Tuesday. The CEO will issue a circular with details, the clubs will respond, and then we’ll have a way forward.”

FUFA is seeking to introduce a three-round league system to replace the current two-round format, a proposal that has divided opinion among top-flight clubs.

Magogo insisted the federation remains committed to dialogue but also firm on principles it believes are vital for the growth of the game.

He assured stakeholders that by next week, the way forward will be clear. “We have listened to the clubs and I can guarantee you that either we might continue with the format after Tuesday’s meeting or we may not, depending on the outcome of the final consultations.”
